About
Elena Ximenes studied at the City and Guilds and Putney Arts Centre.
She has enjoyed travelling to many exotic countries including Mexico, Morocco, India, Turkey and Spain, giving her the inspiration for colour. Her work demonstrates an emotional and energetic explosive response to her feelings dominated by the impact of colour. She was educated in three different countries.
Elena exhibited at the International Arts Fair in Milan in 1994 and has taken part in other exhibitions including the Rotonda International Arts Fair Tuscany 2006, winning the prestigious Giobatta Lepori prize. Her work was included in the Fiera D'Arte in Reggio Emilia in 2006 and she was accepted for the Manhatten Javits Convention in March 2007 but unfortunately could not attend. She has now been offered a place in Tokyo Provenance.
Elena comes from a family of sculptors and painters: Great Uncle Ettore Eimenes created the monument of Independence in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and Monuments in Buenos Aires. He was a well known Italian sculptor and lived in Rome. His brother Elio, Elena's grandfather, was a portrait painter and painted Pope Pius X and King Alfonso of Portugal, amongst many other famous aristocrats.
She has been a member of the Chelsea Arts Club for many years.
